Rabbi Wrote Me An Email

Last night I shared a post about an article that had drawn a lot of strong reactions from women in our community. The response was immediate — many of you reached out to the author directly to express your concerns.

The Rabbi sent an email to everyone who had contacted him regarding the article. Here is what he had to say:

Dear friends,

Over the weekend our office received many emails from angry women saying I had attacked breast-feeding. One woman even said I had equated breast-feeding with adultery, which has to be one of the most flagrant acts of misrepresentation I have encountered.

I want to be clear: I am a strong supporter of breast-feeding. My wife breast-fed all of our children. What I was addressing in the article was a different issue entirely — the importance of maintaining intimacy and connection within marriage, and how couples navigate the demands of early parenthood.

I appreciate those of you who took the time to write thoughtful responses, and I hope this clarifies my position.

It was gracious of him to respond directly to the community. While people may still disagree on the nuances, I think it's important to acknowledge when someone takes the time to engage in dialogue rather than simply dismissing criticism.

If you missed the original post, please read that first for full context — this follow-up will make much more sense with the background.
